Midnight Oil Workshop

A crudely drawn crescent moon can be found the closer you get to Nashville Speedway, marking the Midnight Oil's turf. Each tag thrown up along the concrete barriers and walls drips black paint where it was sprayed on thick and carelessly. The markings are a silent warning, letting any outsider know they are walking on claimed turf.

Right in the middle of this industrial zone, with a clear view of the Speedway, that’s where you find the scrap yard.

The Perimeter

From the road, the place just looks like some dead-end scrap yard, but trying to get a look inside is difficult. First thing you deal with is the fence, heavy rusted steel sheets topped with razor wire. Right behind the fence, there are rusted frames and crushed car bodies stacked three-high, building a solid wall of steel that completely cuts off any view above the fence.

The gates stay locked tight. No welcoming signs, just an old half rusted intercom system. You pull up without an invite, you’re just staring at rust. But if you look too close in the gaps of the stacked cars, you'll spot high-end camera lenses tucked into the shadows of rusted wheel wells and frame rails. They see you coming long before you ever get near the gate.

The Compound

Once you're past the gates, the maze of junk cars opens up into a massive workshop. Inside, the air hits you immediately—smells like burnt motor oil, bad gasoline, and ozone from the welders.

This is a hard-use garage, thick with grease and years of dirt. They got chain hoists hanging from rafters holding stripped engine blocks. But look past the piles of hand tools and you'll spot some seriously expensive gear tucked into the corners—heavy-duty CNC mills and precision computerized lathes splattered in oil, cutting custom parts you can't buy anywhere legal. The walls are crowded with cutting torches and diagnostic rigs that look like they fell off the back of a military transport. It’s a real mechanic's space, built purely for utility. This is where they tear hot vehicles down to the bare frame and rebuild them into ghosts—shaving off VINs, fabricating hidden stash compartments, welding heavy armor plates behind stock door panels, and tuning engines to run stupid fast.

Out past the main concrete slab, sitting under a rusted metal overhang, they got an old commercial car crusher and a heavy-duty industrial incinerator. Both machines look heavily abused, leaving the air around that corner of the yard constantly smelling like scorched iron, burnt wire insulation, and whatever else they need gone for good.

The Den

The back rooms are where the crew actually holes up. The space has this heavy, raw style to it, concrete floors, worn leather couches, and cheap neon throwing red and blue shadows across the walls. They even got this cracked-up old disco ball hanging from a rusty pipe in the middle of the ceiling, caked in a thin layer of shop dust but still spinning slow and throwing weird reflections all over the place. A loud-ass sound system sits in the corner, and when they crank it, you can feel the bass vibrating right through the floor. You don't hear much of the grinders screaming from the main shop, since the walls are thick-ass poured concrete.

The Fleet Storage

Right next to the main shop is a separate, locked-down bay. This is the holding spot for the real vehicles—and it’s a wild-ass mix. You got the expected blacked-out muscle cars and custom imports, but they got a massive range of wheels tucked away in here. Gleaming high-end chrome catching the dim overhead light, vintage classics stripped down to raw steel, and even some heavy, weird utility rigs you’d never expect a street crew to keep around. Some of these projects are built rough just to take a beating on the road, but right next to them you got pristine, high-end luxury rides kept absolutely spotless for when they need to look like they belong in the nice parts of town.
