Avery is originally from Chicago where she grew up in a situation that left her having to fend for herself most of the time. As soon as she was old enough, she sent out college applications to anywhere but places in Illinois feeling the need to get as far away from that life as possible. She took the first one that accepted her, which was the University of Nebraska in Omaha. Her goal was to get a degree in graphic design and forget all about her childhood.
In Nebraska she discovered many things about herself she wasn’t allowed to explore before, her sexuality, likes and dislikes, and what her core beliefs really were without them being indoctrinated into her. She became highly invested in the rights of the lgbtqia+, women’s rights, and several other notable groups fighting for the rights of marginalized people. This is how she met Quinn.
Quinn would only show up to meetings after dark, but he spoke with a passion about needing to fight for what they believed in, and was generally considered a leader amongst the different groups. He took a special interest in Avery, instilling his own beliefs and passions into her whether she realized it or not. 2 years into them working together, he embraced her.
Avery spent the better part of 8 years being his errand runner. He had established himself as Baron of north Omaha (the bad part of town) where he ran a drug operation. She noticed over time he stopped going to protests and meetings, his passionate speeches turned from rights for everyone to don’t mess with the status quo. Avery got fed up, packed her and her ghoul up in her crappy little civic, and headed east. She was headed for the east coast but her car gave out just outside of Nashville. She met a strange guy that offered them a ride into Nashville, and after a bit of discussion, decided to stay here for a bit.
